For a while now, I’ve been talking with my wonderful Life Coach from Empowering For Missions about how to be intentional in my every day life. This has covered every facet of my life, and has touched several times on my health and well being, specifically eating healthy and exercising.
Tonight we discussed my eating habits. This is an area of my life that I have struggled with since I was old enough to make my own food choices. I have a sweet tooth, a major sweet tooth, that is hard to remedy. When talking with my life coach, I came to realize that I struggle the most with craving sweets in the evening time, and that a lot of times I don’t have a healthy option available because I haven’t planned for it.
This is where being intentional with eating comes into play. Some methods to help me with this issue that we came up with were:
1. Search out some clean-eating options for snacks that I can have on hand, so that I am not as tempted to go for the other unhealthy options (that usually reside in my house because I have a husband who can eat whatever he wants an not gain an ounce).
2. Prepare ahead of time, perhaps by cutting up veggies and storing them properly so that I have them ready and available for when these sneaky cravings pop up.
3. Go against the grain. Well, this wasn’t so much a method that we came up with as much as it was a point that was made that our culture is conditioned to make the quick and easy choices, rather than the choices that involve prep and work. But, if I have already searched out and found some healthy options and then prepared those options ahead of time, it will then be much easier to go against the grain and eat healthier!
So, my goals over the next couple of weeks are pretty simple, I am choosing to be very intentional about what I am eating and preparing ahead of time to avoid from making poor choices. I really have to tell you that having a life coach has been one of the best things for me this past year *shout out to my life coach Penny, woot woot!* If you need a life coach, consider contacting her via her website Empowering For Missions.
